Abhishek is awesome: Priyamani
Priyamani runs out of words when she talks about Abhishek Bachchan, her co-star in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’. “He is fun and lively, always cracking jokes and making everyone around him laugh,” says the dusky beauty on the Junior B. Saying she had no scenes together with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the heroine of the film, the Malayalam beauty says she however shared the screen space with the former Miss World’s husband. “You hardly feel the work pressure when Abhishek is around the sets. There is a lot of laughter thanks to him and his sense of humour is extraordinary. He is so simple, down to earth and courteous to one and all,” she says. Adding more on Abhishek, she says, “Everyone is equal to him from the director to the spot boy. He made me feel ease on the sets of ‘Raavan’. I had a nice time working with him. It is a memorable experience.” Tags: priyamani, abhishek bachan, Raavan, aishwarya rai , wallpapers, photogallery, upcoming movies

Jayasuriya in 4 getups for Nallavan
The more serious actors in Malayalam had been experimenting with their getups, whenever they are in different characters. Now taking a cue from the seniors, younger actors are also trying to mould their appearances to suit the characters on screen. The actor, about whom we are talking about, is Jayasuriya who had already shown the guts to be the comedian, villain and the hero in different films, coming out in the same time. Jayasuriya is appearing in four getups for the new movie ‘Nallavan’, which has just completed its shoot. The actor will be appearing as a youth of age 20, 25 and 35 in this movie. For each age-group, Jayasuriya has gone for a different look and hairdo. He has even worn a look with spring hairs and one with clean shaven head. Jayasuriya will be donning the character named 'Kocherukkan' living in a Tamil village, who is forced to go behind bars for reasons that were unknown to him. “Mollywood viewers always enjoy films, giving a very critical look on every aspect. So to keep them engaged and interested, we will have to go for changes ranging for the looks to the narratives. And when I got a very solid promising plot in ‘Nallavan’, I thought I must give hundred percent to the film”, says Jayasuriya about his different looks in the movie. ‘Nallavan’ directed by popular TV name Aji John, has already completed its shoot and is in post production stages. The movie will grace the theatres by the mid of May as a summer release. Tags: jayasuriya, nallavan, malayalam movies, upcoming movies, jayasuriya pictures, wallpapers, latest news

End of innings for Tharoor
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accepted the resignation of Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, as per reports. His meeting with the Prime Minister lasted for over thirty minutes.
Official word is awaited from the Prime Minister's office early morning on Monday.
The minister who became popular more for his tweets than political moves has been embroiled in the controversy around the new IPL Kochi team.
Tharoor drove to the prime minister's 7, Race Course residence in his private vehicle soon after after Manmohan Singh held a meeting of the Congress core committee including Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The meeting was held to decide the minister's future in the government in the wake of controversy over an ugly IPL franchise row in which his friend Sunanda Pushkar was given a sweat equity worth Rs.70 crore.
Tharoor, who has been in the firing line of a united opposition demanding his removal, met Manmohan Singh earlier in the day for over 50 minutes to explain his side of the story.
BJP's first reaction says that it's the 'victory of truth.' Congress maintains that there is no deliberate attempt to delay Tharoor's resignation.
The parliament on Monday is set to see some fireworks as Tharoor's resignation puts opposition on the back foot. Some of the important bills including the Finance Bill are likely to come up for debate.

Rajini’s emotional gift to Kamal
Admiration is something that ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth receives naturally because of his deeds and actions. In one such action, he has proved yet again that he’s not only a superstar but also a true friend.
The friendship about Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan is incredible and all of us know it. They have acted in many movies together and both consider director K. Balachandar as their mentor. During a function to facilitate Kamal’s fifty years in the film industry, Rajini had reportedly said that all the actors were ‘children of the Goddess of Art’, but ‘Kamal was so special that the Goddess had carried him in her own arms and let the other actors follow her’. This speech of Rajini had indeed received a lot of applause from the audience and the guests and especially Kamal who turned emotional by saying Rajini is his closest friend in the Tamil industry.
While that speech of Rajini would have been forgotten by many, sources say the ‘superstar’ apparently had called a reputed artist to his house to paint what he felt about the description of Kamal with the Goddess of Art. He had expressed his feelings and told his idea of how the painting can be portrayed. Rajini wanted the painting to include superstars from other industries as well and wanted them to be depicted as children. After a few days, the artist had come up with his version and Rajini was awestruck seeing it. He was so grateful to the artist and he immediately packed the painting and sent it to Kamal’s office. Sources say that after Kamal opened the package he was so happy to see the painting which made him feel so special. Apparently there was a telephonic conversation between the two, where Kamal was reported to have told Rajini, he was moved by this gesture.
The painting has Goddess of Art carrying Kamal in her arms, and superstars Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Kannada superstar Vishnuvaradhan and Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi as kids who are playing and following them. Only photos of two stalwarts of Tamil Cinema hang on Kamal’s walls and they are Sivaji Ganesan and Nagesh. Now he has another painting and that too from a special friend. A tale of friendship that all Tamil fans would love to see it blossom.

JANAKAN-REVIEW
Worse still, the same storyline was narrated by director M A Nishad in his film Vairam last year and it is sad that no earnest attempts have been made to package this one in a better way than the earlier film.
Viswanathan (Suresh Gopi), Monayi (Biju Menon) and Palani (Harisree Asokan) are fleeing from the cops and after several hurdles, they manage to reach ace lawyer Sooryanarayanan (Mohanlal). He listens to their rather tragic story, according to which Viswanathan's teenage daughter was gang raped and brutally murdered by a dirty trio, consisting of a super-rich businessman, a cop and a young DJ.
Dr. Rani (Jyothirmayee), who had taken care of the girl at the hospital, reveals certain crucial facts to Viswanathan. After their plea for justice falls on deaf ears, Viswanathan, Monayi and Palani kill the three miscreants, one after the other. Now Sooryanarayanan decides to help them, with his smart wit and brilliance.
Director Sanjeev and scenarist S N Swamy has gone for the highly conventional ways to narrate the story. From the hero-is-always-smart type quips and the thrills with well built hunks which he wins hands down, to the excessive melodrama, there are many scenes modeled on the formulaic films of this genre! Mohanlal has a comparatively brief role, but he has almost all the stylish lines in his kitty and the versatile genius is evidently at ease doing it all in a charming way.
Though one of main highlights of the film is the bond between a couple and their darling daughter, that part is almost ignored here. The chemistry shared between Suresh Gopi, his wife played by Kaveri and their daughter is ineffective on screen and that affects the whole mood of the film as well. Of course, Suresh Gopi tries really hard and he succeeds in his attempt to look convincing to a certain extent, but both Kaveri and the young girl fails to impress. Remember, Tamil actor Pasupathi had done a spectacular performance in a similar role in Vairam.
The rest of the cast including Jyothirmayee, Biju Menon, Harisree Asokan, Vijayaraghavan, Sivaji Guruvayur, Vijayakumar and Rajith Menon have limited roles to play. Sanjeev Sankar's camera is just okay while M Jayachandran's music is pretty nice.
There are no real experiments here, true, but the film has its moments and as they say, the heart at the right place. Though the film is just above two hours, it could have been more enjoyable, if it was shorter by some 20 minutes or so.
Verdict: Watchable

Amma expels Thilakan for life!
Thilakan has been expelled from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) for life! His membership of the association was revoked after he appeared before its executive committee on Monday (April 5) in Kochi. Thilakan refused to apologise for the comments and criticism that he made about AMMA and its members. Following this, the organization was forced to expel him. Innocent, president of AMMA, said: “We were forced to take action against him as we have to maintain the decorum of the organisation as Thilakan stuck to his allegations and was not willing for any kind of compromise. However AMMA made it clear that the ban would have no effect on Thilakan’s acting career and members of the association had no reservation in acting along with him. Thilakan as usual went on the overdrive and raved and ranted about AMMA and its members. Thilakan also complained that he was denied justice at the meeting, adding that he was insulted after being invited for presenting his case and the decision to expel him was predetermined. Mollywood- Crisis in the industry!
There is crisis and tension in the Malayalam film industry. From Friday April 16, there will not be any new releases, as Film Distributors Association Kerala (FDAK) and Film Exhibitors Association Kerala (FEAK) are at each others throat, over terms and conditions regarding screening of films. Joining the melee is Kerala Film Producers Association, which will also stop producing new Malayalam films, as the “cost of production has gone through the roof and filmmaking has become commercially not viable due to star prices and attitude.” From April 16, no new film can be started, only shooting and production work of films which started earlier will be allowed. And the Kerala Film Chamber (KFC) and AMMA are daggers drawn. KFC has demanded that stars including actors and singers should stop taking part in reality shows and other shows meant for Malayalam television channels. The KFC also wants actors to reduce their remuneration. More shocking is that distributors and producers want a crackdown on other language films (OLF) like Tamil, English and Hindi films which have eaten into the collections of Malayalam films. Says Siyad Kokker, president of FDAK: “After Vishu from April 16, we will not allow the release of any new films in Kerala, unless our terms and conditions are accepted by the theatre owners. We have also made it clear that OLF can release in Kerala only two weeks after its worldwide release.” Tags: AMMA, Mohanlal , Mammootty, Malayalam films, malayalam movies, new movies, mollywood

It's better to quit films than TV: M G Sreekumar
“It is better to consider quitting playback singing, if the film Chamber insists on the new demand to keep away from TV shows” says famous playback singer M G Sreekumar. He was responding to the chamber decision to refrain from reality and stage shows hosted by private groups. 'In the recent years, I am getting lesser offers. Last year I have just sung for four films which could just fetch twenty five thousand as fee. And so, it's impossible for me to live with this money. Or else, I should be given a chance to sing in all the films that are released in a year, laments Sreekumar. ”I'm a singer, and I would live by singing anywhere including television channels and other programmes”, Sreekumar added.
