Prithviraj’s Thanthonni has been cut by 15 minutes after release! The film's length has been reduced to make it a bit more racy. The trouble with Thanthonniis that the director George Vargheese has etched it from several earlier films of Mohanlal. This has led to comparisons among the fans which has put the young actor in an embarrassing situation. The film which was crucial for Prithvi is pretty lukewarm at the Kerala box-office. Now with Ghost House Inn and Pramani releasing next week, it will be a uphill task for Prithviraj’s Thanthonni to fight the battle at the box-office. Mathilukalkkappuram: Vidya Balan is Mammootty's pair
Vidya will be first seen in Malayalam with the film, Mathilukalkkappuram.
It is not a new affair for Bollywood ladies to appear in southern screens. North stars were seen in South Indian films when they get aged or they loose popularity. But this is not the case with Vidya Balan. She is young and sought after in Hindi. This will be her first venture after her performance in Ishqiya.
Mathilukalkkappuram will be directed by Prasad who had compleated the script a couple of years back. The film will continue with Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's story. Noted director Adoor Gopalakrishnan made Mathilukal in 1989.
The story will take off from where Adoor finished.
Ravi K Chandran directs the camera while the sound department will be headed by Resul Pookutty. Mammootty's production company, Playhouse, will produce the film.
Vidya Balan is not considered a typical Bollywood heroine who shows skin and goes the dance and gym routine. She is known for her beauty and acting performance. Her stuff can be sampled in films like Parineeta, Munna Bhai MBBS, Paa and the recent Ishqiya. Vidya was born in Palakkad, Kerala, in a south Indian Brahminical family.

He said the base price for bidding was $225 million. He also said that the franchisee fee for the two new teams was for 10 years.
The two new teams will join eight franchisees that have been part of the IPL for three years: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

Thanthonni Vs Nayakan-brothers for a duel
The weekend will feature the Box Office clash between the films of two star brothers of Mollywood-Prithviraj and Indrajith. While Prithvi will make his first release of the year tomorrow in ‘Thanthonny’, Indrajith will present his big movie as an action hero ‘Nayakan’ in the same weekend. ‘Thanthonny’ directed by George Varghese has been in the news for its techno savvy making and its posters claiming the arrival of the new generation hero. The posters feature Prithvi in two faces, giving reminiscences of the characters like what Superstar Mohanlal played in his hit movie ‘Ustadh’. Scripted by T A Shahid, the movie has Sheela Kaul as the heroine. A couple of the songs of the movie were shot outside India. The other highlights includes the brilliantly choreographed action sequences and a song rendered by Prithvi. The Indrajith movie ‘Nayakan’ is directed by young director Lijo Jose Pellissery, the son of late comedian Jose Pelliserry. The movie presents Indrajith as a multifaceted character named Varadan who is on a revenge spree. The movie is said to offer Indrajith a lot of space to prove his acting capabilities. Mohanlal revives Pranavam Arts!
After 11 years, Mohanlal has revived his home banner Pranavam Arts. Some of the best movies ever made in Malayalam like- His Highness Abdullah, Bharatham, Kamaladalam, Vanaprastham, were made under this banner. Pranavam Arts and a Mumbai based corporate will jointly produce Major Ravi directed Kandahar. Suresh Balaji, brother-in-law of Mohanlal will look after the production. Suresh has been doing outsourcing works for Mumbai producers making Tamil films and is a professional production man. Mohanlal is clearly going for a total restructuring of his priorities in production. It also clearly means that Aashirwad Cinemas of Antony Perumbavoor will be put in the backburner. Will the star distance himself from Antony his right hand man for many years, remains to be seen? Meanwhile the star is going all out to make Kandahar happen in the next six months. Major Ravi is doing research and also trying to get permissions to shoot the film in high security areas. Amitabh Bachchan has given dates for the film towards the end of the year. Now it is almost certain that Tamil superstar Suriya will not be a part of the film. He has called up Mohanlal and has cited “lack of dates” as reason for not doing the film. The producers are now on the lookout for a Tamil action hero to step in as Suriya’s replacement. Mohanlal Bounces back
Mohanlal is also excited about his forthcoming Kandahar which is to be directed by Major Ravi and produced by the actor himself along with a Mumbai-based corporate. It is based on the hijacking of the flight IC-814 in 1999 by five Pakistani militants who forced it to land in Kandahar with 186 hostages on board. Amitabh Bachchan has an important part as the father of one of the passengers while Mohanlal role will be that of a commando involved in the rescue act.
Said Mohanlal, “Kandahar will be an action-adventure film. We have to get permission from the army and home ministry to shoot in different locations; we will start the shoot in a few months.” On doubts being raised about Suriya doing the film, Mohanlal said, “Suriya had agreed to do the film initially but later, called and said he had reservations as Prakash Raj was said to be making a film with a similar storyline. I assured him that both the films were different, but if he was still not convinced, he didn’t have to do it.

Mammootty new look-walrus moustache!
Mammootty has a new deadly new look in debutant Vysakh’s Pokkiri Raja! For the first time the actor is spotting a handlebar walrus moustache known in local lingo as “Pandi Kapada Meesa”. The Walrus moustache worn by Kamal Hassan in Thevar Magan became famous all over Tamil Nadu at that time, and even now top actors love wearing it. Take a look at Tamil actor Ajith’s latest film Aasal and Suriya’s yet to be released Singam. So can Mammootty be far behind? In Tamil Nadu this type of moustache indicates a macho tough look. In the film Pokkiri Raja Mammootty’s plays Raja son of a disciplined school master, who ran away from home and becomes a powerful local dada in Madurai. His younger brother Surya played Prithviraj too follows him and becomes another dada!

Sufi Paranja Kadha Movie Review
With his new movie ‘Sufi Paranja Katha’, Director Priyanandanan has once again proved that why he is at the helm of award ceremonies in the previous years. Continuing with his characteristic ease in selecting and presenting themes with maturity, the movie is a simple poignant story based on writer K P Ramanunni’s award winning novel.
The movie has Sharbani Mukherji, whom you had seen before in movies like J P Dutta’s Border and Priyadarshan’s Rakkilippaattu. Karthy, a beautiful girl born into the prestigious Meleppullara Tharavadu, she shared a more than curious relationship with her Uncle Shankunni Menon. Later when she gets attracted to a handsome Muslim trader Mammootty, they decide to elope to his place. Karthy converts to Islam and their happy married life often gets into problems as she finds it tough to renounce her original beliefs. With the consent of her husband, she builds a temple near their home. But gradually this became the talk of the area igniting communal issues.
Sharbani Mukhrejee proves that the choice of finding her for the role was extremely a right one, and oozes enough sensuality as the character demands. She is meticulous in playing the complex character. Prakash Bare, the producer of the movie, who is a techie based in Hyderabad plays Mammootty with remarkable ease and performs as if he is a seasoned actor . And together they form a glorious pair often competing to steal the scenes from each other. While actor Babu Antony plays the role of Sufi (a Muslim mystic), his brother Thampi Antony impressively emotes the turmoils of Sanku Mamu. Another special role is of Jagathy sreekumar who plays Avaru musaliar. Vineeth kumar, Samruvatha Sunil and Indrans also play to the demands of their roles.
Director Priyanadanan even while sticking to his conventional ways of film making, proves that he can create the mood and set the balance in narrating even without much experimentation. In the technical front K G Jayan's cinematography and Mohan Sithara's music adds to the quality of the movie
‘Sufi Paranja Katha’ comes at a time when the Kerala society, heavily immersed in discussions of love-jihad and communal segregation, truly demands such a topic. The honesty with which the director and crew handled it definitely makes it a must watch for the connoisseurs of good cinema.
